BREAD

All-purpose flour (3 full tablespoons), Yeast (Pakimaya) (½ tablespoon), Chapa mandazi (1 tablespoon)

Ingredients:

  • All-purpose flour (3 full tablespoons)
  • Yeast (Pakimaya) (½ tablespoon)
  • Chapa mandazi (1 tablespoon)
  • Illovo sugar (1 tablespoon)
  • Margarine (Blue band) (1 tablespoon)
  • Milk
  • Water
  •  Salt (1 teaspoon)
  • Cooking oil

Instructions:

How to make a dough:

  • Prepare a clean bowl and put in flour mix it with ½ tablespoon of yeast,1 tablespoon Illovo sugar,1 tablespoon of margarine and one table spoon of chapa mandazi
  • Grater lemon shells, put one tablespoon of the grater in the bowl with the other ingredients
  • Pour in 1 cup of water and 1 teaspoon of salt and start kneading into a dough for 8-10 minutes
  • Once the dough has risen, knock it back and knead it lightly on a floured surface. 
  • Transfer your dough to an oiled tray/board/plates and cover with a piece of lightly oiled clingfilm. Leave in a draught-free place for about 1 hour until the donuts have doubled in size.

How to cook the bread:

  • Heat oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7.
  • Bake for 25-30 mins until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped underneath. Cool on a wire rack.
